The Word in the context of John-1 is the divine entity – Jesus Christ, who existed in the beginning with God.
While the Scripture in 2 Timothy refers to the “written” word of God
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
If you read this verses in its literal sense it would be hard to understand or comprehend and it may not make much sense. It is important to read the Word of God with our internal eyes open. In the absence of that you will end up getting more confused and lost.
Creation is a highly debated topic and for ages people have been trying to prove it wrong. But there is no conclusive evidence of evolution apart from some fragmented pieces of information which people have been trying to piece together and have been very unsuccessful.
We were created from the earth, while angels were not created from the earth. We are earthly beings with a spiritual life breathed by God into us when he created us, while angels were created as spiritual beings.
Many times we try to use our human smarts and try to “prove things”, but nothing has ever been proven in its fullness, in parts things may seem true and feasible but in its wholeness is not will seem pointless.
The best thing we as his earthly creation can do is to “accept” that we are “limited” in our ability to comprehend God, his power, his complexity, his greatness and his nature. God’s personality, power and greatness is depicted in the best humanely possible way by S.M Lockridge [1953-1993] in this message HERE.
Just for that reason he has revealed to us enough through the Word, that we can live by faith and trust in God and lead a life that can continue to lead us in ways he desires of us.
Pride, lack of humility and the perception of knowledge is a vicious cycle which is increasingly making people more isolated in their striving to achieve more self sufficiency.
God created us as social beings who are interdependent on each other for their emotional and physical well being, but sadly now instead of people being socially connected with each other they are increasingly using the “social media” as an interface which is eliminating the “human element”. The fabric of human relationships is crumbling with the people rarely having direct interactions with each other, more and more interactions tend to be through devices even though the person could be sitting next to you.
Humanity and human interactions the way God intended to be has substantially changed and continues to change very fast, the fabric of family and the very basic unit of family is being challenged.
Respect no longer has a place, money and pride has taken over God’s intended model or respect for people which was designed to support and build each other up irrespective of their wealth or position in society.
It is time we get back to the basics in terms of human values, rely on the scriptures more than ever before for guidance on social and economical issues and derive power from ultimate source – God – the Word. In Greek Logos is the term which cannot be translated to English without loosing its original intent.
Remember “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” and he is a never changing God, he is the Alfa and the Omega. The same yesterday, today and forever.
